Health Facts
Mareblu Naturals was founded on the idea that healthy food can be delicious food. We know that sometimes it’s hard to believe that something so tasty can be good for you. If you can’t believe it, try out our Mareblu health facts and see how there are benefits to both the individual ingredients as well as the effect of our recipe combinations.

FACT: Gluten Free/Wheat Free: A gluten free diet involves avoiding all foods that have wheat, rye, oats, barley and spelt. Gluten sensitivity can be genetic as well as due to infections and a malfunctioning liver. Vegetables and fresh fruits are gluten free. Research has found that many people who can benefit from a gluten free or reduced gluten diet are those (including multiple sclerosis, Parkinson's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, autism, locomotor ataxia (the loss of balance), Down's syndrome, osteoporosis, seizures, anemia, peripheral neuropathies, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, etc.)
FACT: 100% Vegan: A Vegan lifestyle is typically rooted in sensitivity to agricultural animal care. However, the benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle are well documented including this note from the American Dietetic Association: "Well-planned vegan [pure vegetarian] and other types of vegetarian diets are appropriate for all stages of the life cycle, including during pregnancy, lactation, infancy, childhood, and adolescence. Vegetarian diets offer a number of nutritional benefits, including lower levels of saturated fat, cholesterol, and animal protein as well as higher levels of carbohydrates, fiber, magnesium, potassium, folate, and antioxidants such as vitamins C and E and phytochemicals. Vegetarians have been reported to have lower body mass indices than nonvegetarians, as well as lower rates of death from ischemic heart disease; vegetarians also show lower blood cholesterol levels; lower blood pressure; and lower rates of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and prostate and colon cancer."
FACT: Kosher: Mareblu products have been certified Kosher. This means much more than just not including certain ingredients (like pork or shellfish) Kosher certified food is clean, healthy and carefully packaged. As part of the packaging process there are numerous inspections and strict regulation. Kosher certification is becoming a standard for healthy, clean and superior quality food. Kosher certification gives our customers an additional assurance of quality and purity. For kosher certification all ingredients are required to be manufactured under the supervision of a rabbi or by a kosher certification agency.
FACT: Cholesterol-Free: There are few substances more widely recognized as a health risk than cholesterol. But what is it about lowering your cholesterol that is so beneficial? Here are six quick reasons that reducing cholesterol in your diet is helpful (More information can be found at: www.eliminatecholesterol.com)
Reduced chances for arterial hardening. Cholesterol is a yucky, fatty substance that can get caught in the body's arteries and veins. When it attaches itself to plaque, the chances for the arteries to harden and not work as effectively increase greatly.
Reduced chances for heart disease and heart attack. As one of the world's number one killers, heart disease and heart attacks in general are more than worth avoiding. If bringing a high cholesterol level into check can prevent this from happening, the reward is worth the effort and them some!
Stroke prevention. Unfortunately, clogged arteries don't only lead to heart attacks. These brain-choking events can also be caused directly or indirectly by high cholesterol levels. Getting the levels under control can very much reduce the risk factor for having a stroke.
Better diet. When a lower cholesterol diet is brought into play, the offshoot benefits can be amazing. Since these diets tend to be better balanced and healthier, the entire body can benefit in the act. This can result in a person feeling better, having more energy and might even provide some other disease-fighting benefits.
Weight control. A low cholesterol diet tends to also be a lot lower in fat. This means people who struggle with weight concerns can benefit greatly by trying to tackle the cholesterol problem. When exercise is added into the mix, the combination is a powerful one.
Longer life. While there is no guarantee bringing a high cholesterol level into check will result in a lifespan of 90 years, it just might. By helping the body function better, more effectively and more efficiently, tackling cholesterol can increase the chances for a longer, healthier life.
FACT: Dairy-Free: Dairy products are a double edged sword. Although most dietary recommendations include some form of dairy serving each day, there are also potential negative side effects depending on your individual body chemistry. Milk protein allergies and lactose intolerance have been linked to a wide array of physical symptoms. For some, it is as simple as lethargy or weight gain, for others crippling migraines and "autoimmune" type symptoms are a lifestyle complication. There is a great deal of research linking dairy to prostate cancer, breast cancer, type 1 and type 2 diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol and heart disease. Mareblu Naturals products are dairy free which helps contribute to a healthy lifestyle for all people. If you want to get your dairy serving and enjoy Mareblu at the same time, check out our recipes page.
FACT: Peanut Free: Aside from fat content, there is one much more dramatic benefit to eating snacks that are peanut-free. Peanut allergy is a reaction to the ingestion of peanuts. Mild symptoms include skin reactions and stomach discomfort. The most severe reactions can include a potentially fatal swelling of the throat. Peanut allergy symptoms tend to be rather severe and account for the majority of fatal or near fatal anaphylactic reactions in the U.S. Mareblu Naturals are certified peanut free because not only do they contain no peanuts but they are also prepared and packaged in a peanut-free facility. This means safe and happy snacking for you.
FACT: GMO Free: Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in food are a growing concern for a number of consumers who are worried about the impact that GMOs may have on their health. As a result, many companies in the late 1990s began to apply the GMO free label, indicating that their food does not contain GMOs. The labeling movement took off, especially at the beginning of the 21st century, when consumers became much more educated about GMOs, the companies that produce them, and the choice of eating GMO free. Although the true impact of genetically modified organisms in food over the long-term is still being researched, Mareblu Naturals has chosen to be a GMO free snack as a precaution.
FACT: Trans-Fats Free: Aside from being a cholesterol free snack Mareblu also has 0 grams of Trans fats, Trans fats raise your bad (LDL) cholesterol levels and lower your good (HDL) cholesterol levels. Eating trans fats increases your risk of developing heart disease and stroke. It’s also associated with a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
FACT: Protein: Mareblu Naturals snacks are made of high quality nuts which provide an excellent source of protein. Protein is an important component of every cell in the body. Hair and nails are mostly made of protein. Your body uses protein to build and repair tissues. You also use protein to make enzymes, hormones, and other body chemicals. Protein is an important building block of bones, muscles, cartilage, skin, and blood.
Along with fat and carbohydrates, protein is a "macronutrient," meaning that the body needs relatively large amounts of it. Vitamins and minerals, which are needed in only small quantities, are called "micronutrients." But unlike fat and carbohydrates, the body does not store protein, and therefore has no reservoir to draw on when it needs a new supply.
FACT: Cashews: Cashew nuts are significant sources of iron (essential for red blood cell function and enzyme activity), magnesium (promotes energy release and bone growth), phosphorus (builds bones and teeth), zinc (essential to digestion and metabolism) and selenium (has important antioxidant properties, thus protecting the body from cancer). In comparison to other tree nuts, cashew nuts have a lower fat content. They are also, like all other tree nuts, cholesterol free. Cashew nuts also contain significant amounts of phytochemicals with antioxidant properties that protects the body from cancer and heart disease.
FACT: Almonds: Almonds are rich in vitamin E and are a useful source of calcium. It may help reduce the risk of heart disease and can also lower blood cholesterol levels.
FACT: Pistachios: Pistachios are rich in potassium (helps regulate the body's fluid balance), phosphorus (helps build bones and teeth) and magnesium (important element in the conversion of the body's energy), and are also a good source of vitamin B6 (aids protein metabolism and absorption) and thiamine (enhances energy and promotes normal appetite). These nuts also have a relatively low calorie value when compared to other nuts and are cholesterol free, high in fiber, low in saturated fat, and a very good source of protein. Like most other nuts, pistachios can also cut heart disease risk. The high monounsaturated fat content may actually lower cholesterol levels in the blood. Pistachios also contain antioxidants in the form of phytochemicals. These plant nutrients have been associated with a decreased risk for developing chronic diseases, like cancer.
FACT: Pecans: This nut is an important source of elegiac acid. Pecan nuts are a good low fat source of vitamin E and also have anti-cancer effects. They can also, if eaten correctly, lead to lower cholesterol levels.
FACT: Antioxidant: Antioxidants such as Vitamins A, C & E fight free radicals, helping to maintain the immune system and healthy skin.
FACT: B-Complex: Vitamin B helps maintain nerve and digestive function, and boosts the immune system’s production of germ-fighting antibodies.
FACT: Omega-3: Omega 3 fatty acids are poly-unsaturated fatty acids. Studies show that a diet rich in omega 3 fatty acids may help lower triglycerides and increase HDL cholesterol (the good cholesterol). Omega 3 fatty acids may also act as an anticoagulant to prevent blood from clotting.
